I am still working on my relationship with my Mum, and most days I feel as though we are communicating the way that I have always wanted to. It has been a long time since we have spent any real time together and it has been more than 20 years since I have I gone back to Nova Scotia, the place that I consider to be my home.

I may regret this, and I may change my mind, heck, I may not be able to afford it, but my plan is to see the ocean this summer.

Yup, watch out Halifax, here I come!

I think this is a very, very good idea. If only because the see is so therapeutic.

One of my favorite songs that talks about the ocean says

"Someone says they might have seen you where the ocean meets the land

So I've been out here all night looking for your footprints in the sand

Did you hear the ocean singing, baby did you sing along?

As you danced over the water to some old forgotten song

Where you even here at all?"

I just love the harmony in that song.

CindyDianne - I am keeping my fingers crossed that I can save enough money to get there this summer..Twenty years is a long time and I miss the smell, the sound, the feel of the ocean.

Ohhhh! That sounds divine! My aunt is in New Glasgow but it's been years since I've been to visit her. I think it's such a healthy move to plan a visit to your Mum. Even if it doesn't turn out the way you want it to, you will know you made every effort possible. And at least you will get to experience the healing sound of the waves, dip your toes in the ocean and lay in the sand. Now that we live by water, I can't imagine ever living anywhere inland again.
