Shawn, Kayla, J and I went to the $2 movie yesterday. (We saw Night At The Museum). It's a long 2 bus ride from our house, but for a mere 2 bucks, I'm there.....
Anyway, at our transfer point mid way, we got on the main line bus to finish our journey home. There was a hooker on the bus, a kid, really, trying to do some business with 2 drunken middle aged men. She was really working it, but they laughed her off. I did hear part of the conversation, so I KNOW what they were discussing.
Shawn and I were talking about the little girl hooker on the bus ride home. We were feeling especially appreciative of our girls - clean cut, drug free, hanging with mom and dad kinda girls....
When we got off the bus at our stop, Kayla turned to me and said "Did you see Rachel? She was the kid dressed like a hooker on the bus."
Whoa. Rachel is Rudi's 15 year old step daughter, the one that he raised.
You all know Rudi, right? The same guy that has been calling me an unfit mom for the past 16 years.
I got another letter from him not long ago, accusing me of more ridiculous bad mom crap. Completely outrageous shit. Like how I threatened to have an old lady's son put in jail if she didn't stop harrassing me for the money I owe her. Oh, yeah, and failing to provide the necessities of life to my kids, and watching Jessica fall into a coma and doing NOTHING about it.
Hmmmm......Let's just think on this for a moment, shall we? If I FAILED to provide what is necessary to sustain life, then wouldn't the girls be, um, DEAD?
Ok, father of the year. I wish that I could be the kind of parent that you are.
It's 11 o'clock. Do you know where your children are?

Wow, well, since the County fiasco I have firmly come to believe that when someone accuses me of something it is something they are doing themselves and thereby, if they accuse you, then they relieve themselves of having to deal with what they are really doing. IT sounds confusing - but its almost without fail. Poor little girl. Thanks God for those of us who do know where our kids and grandkids are - - -
Gardenia - I had heard rumors about what goes on at Rudi's house, but I saw it with my own eyes last night. I can't even imagine letting my 16 year old leave the house looking the way that Rachel did, never mind her actually approaching dirty old men for drugs/sex. It makes my skin crawl.
Rachel got caught shop lifting when she was about 10, and Kayla was with with her. The police were called, the girls were banned from the store, and Rudi's mother in law picked the girls up after the store security had dealt with them. I found out over 6 months later. Rudi told me (when I confronted him) that it was NONE OF MY BUSINESS. My kid gets dragged through the mud, and it's not my concern. I don't care if she was involved in the theft or not, I should have been told. (Kayla didn't steal anything, but was with Rachel when it happened)
This is Rudi's idea of good parenting. I want to know what a 10 and 11 year old were doing away from any parental supervision for the majority of the day. He has no idea what his kids are up to, and he truly believes that he is the superior parent.

whimsical - Yup. I am still in shock, tho. This little kid that I have known since she was 2 years old....Hooking. Turns my stomach.
ldbug - I do pity the poor girl. I knew that things were messed up in that house, but I had no idea how badly.
her indoors - I loved the movie. It was a perfect family show, and we all actually liked it.
As for AFTER the show...I am still in shock.
3 girls from Jax junior school are on the game now. Another one was but she's dead. This country has gone to hell.
I swear, it seems like my buddies and I are all doomed to assholish ex's. Grrr....

Cindydianne - She is a product of her environment. I knew that those girls (there are 2) were doomed when I first met Shannon (the mom) and the kids many moons ago. This is so close to home, you know? Still in shock..........
