Good News

Today is November 1st, and I am so pleased to be starting the month out with some good news.

I received a letter in the mail today, and it was the news that I have been waiting for.

It seems that I AM a person with a substantial disability, under the Ontario Disability Support Program.

No kidding.

This is not like waving a magic wand. I will NOT have my rent paid off, or see wads of cash. In fact, as long as Shawn is working I will not get money at all. That's ok by me.

Really, it is. The fact that I will be getting medical is benefits is reason enough for rejoicing. I will get all of meds covered, and I think that I will be able to get Jessica's cavities filled. too. I seriously doubt that it will cover her braces, but we will cross that bridge when we get to it.

Ok. Deep breath.

I still have to meet with a worker here in my hometown, and there will be scads of paperwork and it maybe be another month of two before I see any benefits, but that's ok.

I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I am hanging in there.

Good news indeed, Biddie!

But I have to disagree with the label; I know it's tongue-in-cheek, but don't be so hard on yourself. Sure you have a disability, but you're not 'mental'. Or are you? :-)

Things have been much better for you recently. When you seemed to have reached rock bottom not long ago, I remember I though "When you're down in there, the only way out is going up" :-)

So glad things are starting to go your way!!

Woohoo! That is fantastic news I am so pleased. And sorry but I thought your label was really funny. lol!

Gabriel - I think that you would have to ask those that know me if I am really mental...Some days the answer might be yes, other days, who knows??
It was just meant to be funny, though.
You're right, when you hit bottom, the only way to go is up, but it has been such a long year, I was beginning to think that it would never happen.

Bunny - Me too! Good to see you agagin :)

Tod - Well knew that you would appreciate my label!
Seriously though, I am so relieved about this. Even though it will take another month or so to kick in, things are looking up!!!

Awesome development, Biddie! I'm sure you just can't wait to get back on those meds and get your life on somewhat of an even keel!

Here's hoping that light you see is really daylight and not an oncoming train!

Halelujia, Halelujia, laaaaaaaaaaaa!

Maybe now is the turnaround for good things!

That's one thing about disability it makes me mad that they think because you are living with someone that that someone is automatically going to take care of you - not always!

dilling - My thoughts exactly :)

heidi - good question. I am reasonably certain that I am not 'normal.' I must be sane though, b/c I often question my sanity, and the truly insane never do - right?

Chellie - windows make me smile, too, especially with winter coming on! :)

Congratulations on meeting the requirements to be recognized as having a disability. Boy, that sounds terrible. You should be eligible for some $$ for your children - under the age 18, or 18+in school??
