Special Delivery!

Some of you may recognize the people in this photo. (and others may recognize my cluttered livingroom. I swear, I thought that it looked better before I saw it in the picture) Oh, I have to tell you that most cameras add 10 pounds, right? Not mine. It adds 20.

Gabriel and his family (minus Juan) dropped off a cake for Jessica's birthday party. This is a cake that Gabby baked and decorated herself. She is so talented that she teaches a class at one of the local community centers. Her handiwork is amazing.

Check out this work of art! How can I cut it into pieces?
Look at the blue ribbon. How does she do it? I offered to be her taste tester anytime Gabby needs one. I doubt that is a problem for her though, with 5 willing helpers at home.

Once again, I have been reminded how lucky - indeed blessed - I am to have such thoughtful friends. Gabriel and Gabby were so kind to not only provide the cake, but they delivered it right to our door. They also brought us two Christmas cd's - one of which Gabriel sings on! I think that we are going to pop them in when we put up the tree.

I wish that they could have stayed longer. Shawn and I would like for them to stop again some time, so that we can thank them properly. I hope that they take us up on the offer.

dilling- It was SOO good! There was only problem with the cake...It wasn't bigger!

Oh, Biddie. Gaby is blushing... :-)

Remember I told you we had to go to a game in Brampton? Well, we just got back. Santi's team (Waterloo) won 6-1, so he went to bed happy.

I'm sorry we couldn't stay, but we needed to be home for Juan, and then we left. We will definitely arrange for us to meet again before Christmas, how does that sound?

Wow what a pretty cake.
It's always a shock when we realize the people out there that love and care about us. :-)

gabriel - That sounds great! Tell Santi that I said Way to go! That is awesome.
We were all so impressed with your kids. Jessica told me that she thought that Carolina was super smart. I couldn't believe how well behaved they all were. You need to come back so that you can meet KC and we can meet Juan :)

jj- It was incredible. The girls will be expecting something like that from me, I'm afraid. Maybe I have to take lessons from Gabby...

alekx - It is, isn't it? This kindness was so unexpected. They are such a wondeful family, I am so happy that I met them :)

burfica - The cake was beyond amazing. Jessica was so pleased with it. Gabriel and Gabby are special people, no doubt about it.

Wow! That Gabby has TALENT! Beautiful work! I'm very glad you thought to take pictures of it before devouring it! LOL!

This is a little late, but I feel for you with the meds situation. I had the same problem. My doc finds a drug that doesn't send me right 'round the bend, and it wasn't covered by ODBP. My doc got around that by asking the sales rep for a year's worth of samples, and gave me those instead. There ARE ways around the idiots in Queen's Park. You just have to be persistant. Good luck, my friend, and a belated Happy Birthday to Jessica! (She's looking great!)

Gosh, that was so thoughtful and what a beautiful cake. My bday is in January, think Gaby could jet to the US with one of those cakes? That would make my day! :)

I love it that you took all those pictures before you ate it! You did eat it, right?

Good people gotta stick together honey.

Sounds like your weekend went well!

Two more things:

That's not clutter, that's birdcages. Totally different!

And also Bucky just whispered that he's never seen your cat!

What a beautiful cake. I love the ribbon of course, but also the little flowers with coloured centres (maybe smarties). It looks so delicate.

BTW I left a comment on your post about your medicine cost with a website for Trillium government program. It sounds like the same as our Pharmacare program in BC. Worth checking into. I don't pay anything for my psychiatric meds because I am considered poor even though I have a pretty good disability benefit through work.

Love this cake. What a wonderful thing for Gabby and Gabriel to do. There really are alot of great people in this world. The news only cares about the rotten folk but the good are out there. I hope Jessica had a special day. Hey, where are those pictures? Slackin off are ya? I'm a waitin.

Gaby is overwhelmed with so many compliments on her baking skills.

Chellie, I don't think we can ship cakes to the US, but we will be in Toronto the next two weekends, in case somebody from there wants to order one :-)

Wow, that cake is amazing! I can't even tie real ribbons that well, never mind ones made out of icing (or frosting, or whatever people call it in your neck of the woods!). Crazy stuff.
