And Then He Kissed Me......

We finally made it to the SCI FI CON yesterday. Kayla, Cody and I stood in line for nearly an hour to get our tickets, but it was well worth it. We all had such a blast, we can't wait for next years festivities. I don't have all of the photos downloaded yet, but these are the highlights: Kayla's Chucky doll, signed by "Chucky" himself. Chucky was as surly in real life as he is in the movies - he was taller, though.
Kristy Swanson, the original "Buffy," with Kayla. She was sweet, talkative, and seemed to really enjoy her fans.
Kayla and Henry Winkler. What can I say about him? We LOVED him! Look at him moving in on Kayla there! He made her positively giddy, and, he said that it was a pleasure to meet me! What??! A pleasure to meet ME?? He took the words right out of my mouth! I had a whole dialogue in my head while we were standing in line to meet him. Oh yeah, I was gonna be all cool and talk about his work....Yeah, right. I stammered something about ...well, I can't remember actually. What I do recall is that he kissed me!
OMG!
To my credit, I did not scream ( I have a habit of freaking out when I meet celebs), but I thought that I might faint.
That may have made me unforgettable!
I also ran right into Shawnee Smith (Saw, Becker). I mean bumped right into her. Literally. Of course, I made a fool out of myself, but she was very gracious. I also saw Sid Haig, Tobe Hooper, Kate Mulgrew, Sean Astin, Rene O'Connor, Brent Spiner, and Wes Craven (although I couldn't get close enough to him for a photo). What's his name that plays Lex Luther on Smallville was there, too. I gotta say, with hair and eyebrows, he is HOT. Buzz Aldren was there, to, but they must have had him hidden behind a curtain like The Great Oz, cuz we couldn't find him. Photos with him were $200, a bit out of my price range.
Idol worship ain't cheap these days.
That's why I'm saving my pennies for next year.

Wow, that looks like so much fun!

Did you have to pay the celebs for these pictures? I'm trying to get my brain around that!

And ya! Michael Rosenbaum...he's extremely HOT isn't he? I love him without hair and eyebrows too! Sigh....But he doesn't hold a candle to Tom Welling....was he there? I would have fainted if he put his arms around me!

tod - oh, it was soo much fun! I couldn't get over all of the people that came in costume. I saw so many Storm Troopers and Jokers, it made my head spin. There were also a lot of people dressed as cats. I am not sure why, but there were so many that cody's allergies were acting up :)

aims - Yes, you had to pay for photos and autographs. Henry Winkler was $35, Brad Douriff (chucky) was $25, and Buffy was only $10. Some were as much as $4o and of course, Buzz was $50 for a John Henry. That's why we only had two photos taken.
No, Tom Welling wasn't there, but there was another Smallville alum - Laura something? Blonde hair, very cute. Tom Welling is cuter enpough, but I am now in love with Michael Rosenbaum. He was so sweet and damn, was he hot!

burfica - We had a blast. Just watching all of the costumes was fun enough...I think that we saw about 100 Sailor Scouts, and there was a Lara Croft, too. For some reason, Cody really liked her :)

jamie - Henry Winkler was incredible. You can tell that he has been working crowds for 30+ years. He seemed to genuinely appriciate his fans, and everyone loved him.
I got kissed by The Fonz!

How cool is that!!!

That shot of Kayla and Henry Winkler is awesome! That must have been a real blast! Have you washed your face where he kissed you yet?! ;-)

Biddie said...

stinkypaw - LOL. Well, had to wash my face, but I really didn't want to. I hated the idea of washing Fonzie's kiss off.
He was honestly soo sweet. I wanted to invite him home for dinner :)

That Henry Winkler pic rocks!!!

Ditto! That pic is a treasure; sounds and looks like you had a blast!
Too bad there's a charge for photos and signatures though...Imagine the empty pages of the tab magazines if the paparazzi was forced to hand over the Mastercard before snapping the photos of Britt, Paris, et al.

Jeez gal, Henry has gotten handsome with that gray hair - whew. Can I have an autographed photo of your cheek where he kissed you?

What a time you must have had, I'm jealous!

Biddie said...

chellie - I love that photo, too. I think that I have made about 6 copies for Kayla, including two
5x7's. She is still walking on sunshine.

christine - I was really disappointed at how high some of the prices were for photos and autographs. I still think that it was worth it so see kayla's face, but I just couldn't afford photos/autographs of everyone.
Then there were some people that were just plain miserable about the whole process. Brad Douriff seemed bored and even angry that he was there ay all. I felt like telling to at least pretend, dang it, I'm paying $25 for this!

gardenia - Oh, I am still giddy about the kiss! We had soooo much fun! I can't wait for next year!

You surely had a great time!!! How nice of Henry Winkler, right in line with what everybody says about him...

Biddie said...

gabriel - I have always heard good things about him, too. I think thay Kayla and I would have been heartbroken if he had been a jerk.
Gosh, he was sweet.

gahhhhhhhhhhh

THE FONZ!

He's so cool- I love how he looks now. That picture just looks like the two happiest people in the world, hee hee hee!

Kristy S looks good- really healthy. The original Buffy. Sometimes I forget how funny that movie was!

Is Brad Dourif the same guy who played Wormtongue in the Lord of the Rings? I saw some interviews with him on the disc. I think he's just kind of got a gruff manner about him.

But Henry Winkler. He's a prize! The look on KK's face is worth the trip!

Biddie said...

heidi - Yes, he is. He was also in One Flew Over The Cucko's Nest. I had forgotten that..He was quite unpleasant. I think that it bummed Kayla out, actually. She had an idea of what he would be like, and he was nothing like it.
Henry Winkler, on the other hand...He was incredible. So was Kristy Swanson. She talked Kayla's ear off.
We are going again next year..wanna come????

I'm gald you didn't scream when Henry kissed you, but did he say anything after you threw him to the floor and mounted him before gettng yourself under control?

dilling said...

why is the Fonz at a science fiction convention????

Biddie said...

coffeypot - Do you really think that I would do that in front of Kayla?
I just goosed him a little when he was bending over :)

dilling - Not a clue. I am still trying to figure that out. As best as I can tell, he was there making money hand over fist.

Sounds like a blast. I'm glad you had fun.

I'm missing Dragon*Con this weekend. :-(

It really does sound like fun and I would have loved to have my photo with the Fonz.
I was wondering about the money they charge for having their photos is it money for charity?

Biddie said...

whim - Sorry that you will be missing it. You went last year, right? Who would be at a Dragon Con?
I really did have a great time. I can't wait for the next one.

LW - That's a good question....I don't think that the $$$$$ was going to charity. It probably SHOULD, but the celebs need to make more money. Poor souls.
Can imagine how much they made?
$25 a photo, and you could take one every three minutes or so. Insane.
