Is It Real?

Since Halloween is nearly here I thought that I would post some of my favourite ghost photos (from the web). I can't say for certain if these photos are real, but you all know where I stand on the subject. I firmly believe in them. I have had numerous experiences through the years and living in this house has been an adventure in the paranormal. I can't honestly say that I am always comfortable here when I am alone, thanks in part to my own active imagination and to what I refer to as our 'Little Girl Ghost.'
She has been responsible for many, many strange occurrences....I can't even count the number of things that have gone missing, only to turn up somewhere odd. Like, for instance, the can opener turning up in the bathroom or something that you just put down disappearing almost in front of your eyes.
About a month ago, something happened that scared the life outta me. I wanted to blog about it, but I was (am) afraid that talking about these kinds of things, writing about, dwelling upon it can only make it worse.
I was getting the laundry off of the landing leading down to the basement. There is a small cupboard hanging on the wall above the landing, and a small shelf just below that. There are skates, and shoes, skipping ropes and bubble wands on the shelf and in the closet, and on the shelf. Nothing else. Tools, extension cords, building supplies are all kept in the basement.
Imagine my shock when I was hit across the head by a heavy piece of wood with rusty nails stuck in it. It hit me so hard that I was woozy. I actually thought for a split second that I was being mugged (on my laundry pile. Oh, the humiliation) or attacked by some intruder. When the fog cleared and I could focus my eyes again, all I found was this piece of lumber.
It didn't fall from the shelf. It was never on the shelf, or in the cupboard. Nobody could even tell me where the chunk of wood came from. It hit me flat across the head, too, and I narrowly avoided a mangled nail cutting me open. Instead, I got a nasty sliver on the back on my skull that gave me an equally nasty infection. Trust me, it was bad.
The very first month or so that we moved in weird things were happening. Cold spots. Whispers (I heard some last night). My dryer, which is nearly brand new and is in perfect working condition, has been known to turn off/on by itself.
The dogs absolutely will NOT go into the basement. Ever. They stand at the top of the stairs and cry while I do the laundry. Shawn actually got locked in the back room when there is no possible way to lock the door from the inside. It only locks on the outside, with one of those old fashioned slidey things.
The new house feels safe. I don't get that sick to my stomach feeling when I walk in, the way that I do here some days.
I will miss this little house. It holds a lot of wonderful memories for me - for all of us. KC has moved out, and the new house will probably never feel like home to her. Her bedroom is here, the late night Buffy-a-thons were here, Pork Chop is buried here, in this yard.
Hopefully, our Girly Ghost will stay here, too. We won't miss her.

There's always been stuff we don't quite understand. The supernatural being just one.

Mind you it can be funny as well as frightening. Just watched 'Ghost Town' with Ricky Gervais. Now that is funny ghost stuff!!

By the way...change me link addy will yer? x

You know I love that kind of stuff, but when they set out to hurt you? Uh-uh... no way.

Stinkypaw - The first one I thought was creepy, too.
Our ghost seems to follow us..I don't think that we have lived in a quiet house since..well, ever :) This house been more active then most, though. I hope that she stays behind. I really won't miss her.

4D - I was going to change the links today. I have been having some issues with blogger and it keeps closing down on me when I try to update anythig..Plus, I should be packing instead of blogging, but you know, anything for you :)

Marni - I hear ya. We have all had little things happen before. Shawn and Kayla have had the covers pulled off of them, they have been poked, prodded, and even pinched. Shawn had his toes twisted a couple of times and there were bruises. But THIS? OMG. Honestly? I am scared sh*tless some days to be here alone.

Wow. I completely believe, too. My wife has had some scary things happen to her, too. She once had a dresser drawer fly out and narrowly miss her.
I hope that your ghosty stays put.

Peter - Holy smokes. KC had the same thing happen to her once. She barely escaped getting popped in the face by a drawer that came flying out of her closet. It scared the life outta her since she was only about 13 at the time.
Sounds like your wife and I have a lot in common.

What's the dude in the first pic doing on the floor, anyways? Creep.

Biddie said...

Heidi - How is the move going? Haven't heard from you in a bit. I sent you my new phone number in an email..Call me when you get a chance, I never know where you are.
Yes, that guy is creepy, although I thought that it looked like a little girl.

I am glad that board didn't do more damage to you. Please be careful. I hope things are "normal" in the new house, but just for the safety sake have you thought of having a blessing done? It might be a good idea
Also when you move out of the old place completly. Tell what ever is there that it has to stay and can not follow you. I know that might sound silly, but trust me..and tell it to stay

Biddie said...

Patty - Funny, you are the second person to tell me that - about letting Ghosty Girl that she can't come with us.
I think that a blessing is a good idea. I wonder who I can ask? I am a Catholic/Lutheran, but I am lapsed..I think that I will look into it though. Thanks for the advice :)

I can't even watch a scary movie, never mind living one!I hope that things improve at the new house.
I do believe in the paranormal, but I have had nothing happen to me personally, thank goodness.
Those pics are creepy. The first one wigs me out.

don't be afraid, embrace it. I like to think ghosts are the energy of that former person still vibrating here. While they can startle, it is interesting to think of them dwelling among us...

Maggie - I do not scare easily, and I LOVE scary movies. I have had more encounters than I can even count, but most don't leave me as scared as what this event did. Getting hit was something else..People always say that the spirits can't harm you, but that board across the back of my head hurt like the dickens!

Palm Springs Savant - I normally don't scare easily, and I have lived with ghosts and spirits my whole life. (My Mum's family has a history of pyschic awareness - dreams comimg true, seeing the future, communicating with spirits). I am not exception to the family rule, however, this entity is different. She is mean, down right terrifying at time. I would love to have my Dad rattle around my house (which he has, but not in years) or a sweet old lady, but this ghost girl has to got to go.

Okay, I am FREAKING OUT here. I have been feeling presences in our house ever since we moved in, and I'm particularly aware of Rose in the past few months. I am terrified that she is jealous of Jade. Do you think that's nuts? Please tell me that's nuts. I don't want her to be jealous. I don't even know if I truly believe in ghosts. And nothing has rattled or moaned or whacked me across the noggin. I just feel creepy sometimes. Maybe I'm just a scaredy cat. I really admire you for continuing to live in your home with Ghosty Girl.

I agree with the person who said to talk to her and tell her to stay. I also agree with having a blessing done. I am in the process of arranging one with my reiki therapist. I think you should try an alternative practitioner instead of a priest/minister, personally. I bet there are lots of them in the phone book in K-dub.

Let me know how you make out in the new place!

Biddie said...

Kimber - I know of a priest that will do it, but he is in another parish now, so I was thinking of alternatives, too.
I used to talk to her, but since she become violent and agressive, I don't talk to her as often. Sometimes I tell her that she is scaring my kids and I ask to stop..Then it will, for a day, or two, but it always happens again. I will have a talk with her before we move, but I have a feeling that she is coming with us. She has been my constant companion since NH.
That's a loong time!
I don't think that Rose is jealous. Maybe she is just watching over her new sister.
I used to worry about that too..After losing my boy, I was worried that he would be watching wee Kayla and feeling left out.
I carry him in my heart and he is everywhere that I go. He always will be, just like Rose.

Okay, I'm attempting to leave a comment from my blackberry but here it goes. Much like my mother I can sense/feel these things and that first pic is legit because I am sitting with a distinct feeling of the heebie jeebies. The others don't upset me the way this one does.I honestly don't remember the last time I was in the house alone or in the basement thanks to our friend. I doubt that she will ever leave us - well my mom anyways.

Biddie said...

KC - Thanks for that :) I am going to tell her that she can't come along this time. I dunno, I think that I may have told her before and it pissed her off..I think that we may have tried that before, but..
That 1st one freaks me out.

I am so envious. I would give anything if I could see and talk to those who have passed on. Imagine the conversation I could have with John 'The Wad' Holms.

Biddie said...

Coffeypot - Lol. Too bad I don't get to pick who I see/talk to. I would pick some interesting people, but maybe not him. I saw enough of him when he was a 'movie' star :)

This is incredibly creepy and scary - so glad you guys are out of there. I hope I understood correctly - nothing in the new house, right? The pics really make this whole post scary - there they are! Don't know how you stood it!

Martha said...

We've had odd things happen in our house, too, which we also attribute to a child-ghost. I just saw Paranormal Activity and that movie did NOT ease my mind at all.

Biddie said...

gardenia - Almost completely and thrilled to bits! The new place feels good, no creepiness at all. I am hoping that it stays that way!

martha - I haven't seen that movie - yet..I hope that our ghostie girl stays put..I think that I know WHY the girl is still there..Stay tuned for that.
