Is It Mother's Day Already?

I had the surprise of my life yesterday. Hubby got laid off, again, and his paycheck wasn't enough to cover our bills, groceries, or rent. I didn't tell KC how much the cheque was for, just that Shawn was laid off, looking for new work, and that money would be extra tight for the next couple of weeks. KC went to the grocery store to pick up some munchies because she was having her insignificant other over to watch movies. I called her on her cell phone and asked her to pick up toilet paper for me.
She came home about an hour later with $120 worth of groceries. That is the equivelent of a weeks pay for her. You could have knocked me over with a feather. My almost 19 year old bought food for the family. With her own money. Without being asked. Without complaining.
I am speechless. ME. Speechless.

coffeypot - Snickers? We should send you some Canadian candy. THAT'S what you really need. I'm proud of her, too. :)

kate isis - Not too bad for a former teen mom, eh? Everyone expected me to fail, but she turned out ok. Still speechless.

myat - A great mom? It depends what day it is! They either love me or hate me! Still. I am so proud of KC, and my other 2 girls. KK cleaned the house while I went out for groceries today, without being asked! I'm feeling pretty lucky.
I bet that KC felt great after helping out!

You know, I think we should let her stay.

haha

She is a good kid. She comes from a good home.

"her insignificant other"... that's great! Does he know you call him that? I gotta meet this guy!

Heidi - Yeah, she knows that we call him that. She kept saying crap like 'I refuse to define our relationship.' So, Shawn came up with it, and it seems to have stuck. He's a nice enough kid, treats her well, puts up with her sh*t. I met his mom, too. she really likes KC. He's WAY better than the last one, that's for sure.
I guess she is a pretty good kid. Sometimes I forget how good my kids really are, youknow?

that is priceless...way to go, KC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and, snickers are better then Canadian Kit Kats(which ARE better than US Kit Kats)... you know the difference between Canadian and US candy? Cuban sugar. It is. Google it.

dilling - I had no idea that there was a difference between Canadian and American Kit Kat bars...very interesting.
Yay for KC! I am still without speech!

Canadian Candy? Does that stuff make you say things like “ayah” and “hosier”? My snickers make me say stuff like “y’all” and “fur piece” (long distance) and stuff like that. Besides, I’m not sure if Canadian candy is candy. You have Canadian Bacon which is not bacon at all, but only ham. What will I get that is considered Canadian Candy?

Now that is a great gesture on her part! That was very nice of her.

Awesome - its quite a feeling when our kids come through and start taking care of us! I'm sorry about the bum luck your hubby has had - he and I ought to visit some sort of luck exorcist I think.

Biddie said...

Tod - I was thinking about Nestle chocolate, which is Canadian. You're right, Belgian choclate is the shit.

her indoors - I don't know how we got started on the whole candy debate! It was Coffeypot! He is usually the instigator!

Coffeypot - I think that Canadian chocolate might make you crave Tim Horton's and make you say things like 'eh' I'm not too sure. We could always do a candy exchange....

Stinkpaw - I guess that I must have done something right after all. She really is a good kid....

Gardenia - If you can find me a luck exorcist, let me know. I'm ready to try to just about anything.
KC helping out was a very pleasant surprise. Still speechless....
