Summer is coming to an end. It fills me with a kind of meloncholy... I love having my girls home with me. I always have. When all of the other parents were filled with dread, I was the one secretly jumping for joy. I love having my kids here. Late night movies, soap opera afternoons, and impromptu trips to the shopping mall are how we spend our summers.
It hasn't always been like this. When they were younger it was trips to the swimming pool, and lazy afternoons playing with Barbie and friends.
I'm going to miss my vine covered front porch, the glorious Morning Glory that has taken over in an inferno of colour. I'll miss my girls ( and the borrowed Boy ) jumping through the sprinkler on the front lawn, or throwing a protesting Porckchop and Ruby in the inflatable pool. ( Not wads of meat, the dog, Porky ).
This photo was taken just as the Morning Glory was overtaking the house. We now blues, purples, reds, and pristine white flowers all over the house.
The winters are so desolate. What is there to look forward to? Slush? Wet boots? The bleak, isolating darkness?
I guess that there's snowmen, and sledding...Christmas, and a fresh coating of snow to cover yesterdays mistakes. Oh yeah.....And the holidays!!!
P.S. The naked guy? Keanu Reeves. He just makes me smile..

I like the one with well..Keenu Reeves...mmmmm nice butt....
Yup, eye candy, pure and simple.
Love the house! It is beautiful. As for Keanu -- now THAT is wonderful to look at. Loved him since Bill & Ted... he has such a nice -- er -- voice. :)
Thank you. We've only been here a few months. There is still alot of work to do, I still have curtains to hang! I do love it here though. As for Keanu..he does have a nice "voice"
I love the house...how great. I love summer, and sun, and all that goes with it...it was a major decision for me to move back to where the grey skies reign through much of the winter...honestly, I don't care if it's cold, only that it's grey...I was raised in this climate, and felt a giant release of angst while I lived in the sun...I hate giving up spring, summer and fall now. I am sleeping more each day, feeling less desire to get out...another reason to get another dog though, eh? Heh. I can't relate to the whole kid/school thing...I believe I would be a parent pining for the start of school year...but we'll never know!!!
A dog is a great excuse to get out.I have very little desire to leave my house either. Unfortunately,,neither of dogs eally go for walks. They are good company, tough.
The starkness of winter really gets to me,too. I stay in bed longer, but real sleep still eludes me.
KC is starting college, and her schedule is a little more flexible than before. Hopefully I'll get used to it...
Your house looks charming! I bet you love it!
I love all the seasons. I enjoy cold crisp winter mornings and frost and ice. I look forward to fresh spring mornings with rain and everything bursting to life. And of course gorgeous long warm sunny days. what I can't bear is grey miserable nothingness. and in Britain we seem to get plenty of that. Global warming? BRING IT ON!
The miserable gray nothingness..that's what gets me, too. I seriously do not leave the house during the winter. I go for groceries, and the occasional movie, other than that..
I do love my little house! It's the 1st hose that I've lived in since I was 15...I've lived in town houses and semi's but this is an honest to goodness house. It feels like HOME.
I'm all for global warming,if it means no more snow...
its great when a house feels like home, just think you can look forward to days snuggled up on the sofa in reading a good book drinking hot chocolate and a roaring fire in the hearth, see winter can have its moments
You read my mind! That IS my favourite part of winter, and I do love this little house. I can't wait to break out the hot chocolate. No fire place, though.
Looking at your morning glories reminds me that I forgot to plant the seeds that my mother-in-law sent. That was my mistake; your glories are beautiful.
I am visiting from todemesne.
Man, I can't get over how good that house looks. You, and that house, are good for each other!!!
It's going to get very quiet soon, eh? Good thing we can write to each other. (sigh)
As for Keanu, all I can say is....WHOA!
mjd- Hi, thanx for stopping by. We planted late this year, next year we plan on going crazy, planting enough to enclose the whole porch and most of the back yard.
Heidi- Soo quiet..It'll be strange for a few days, but I think that I will manage...
I have been waiting for a reason to use that Keanu photo. I finally just made one up!!!
I am sorry, was there a picture of a house in this post? And flowers? What flowers?
I can't seem to get past naked guy to the other pics...
Let me concentrate...
**sigh**
No wait, I am supposed to concentrate on seeing the house and the flowers.
**tick tock, tick tock**
Oh! Now I see the house. It IS very cute. Adorable really. It looks as though it has a lot of character. Funny how houses reflect their inhabitants! ;-)
Oh, cindydianne, you make me laugh! I'll take that as a compliment, and thank you very much.
It certainly is a compliment!
I believe I'll adapt Heidi's Less Hatred More Hay mantra to...
Less Hatred, More Hunky Naked Men Backsides.
At least for now. ;-)
Now you're taliking!
TALKING, now you're TALKING. Yesh.
