My depression has been getting the better of me lately, and I am trying to focus on all of the positives in my life. With the exception of a loan from Hubbys boss to pay off our huge gas bill, things just don't seem to be going our way. I was feeling rather blue when I opened the mail on Friday. Along with the usual bills, I recieved 2 Christmas cards in the mail. One was from a long lost friend, and the other was from my Grandma, who lives about 3 hours away. Inside the card was a long letter, and a crisp new 10 dollar bill.
How cute is that? Thanks, Grandma, for the smile. I needed one.

Grandmas always have a way of cheering people up, don't they? You should do something nice for yourself with the 10 bucks. I know it's not a lot but I could think of some really good stuff.
It's good to catch up with people we haven't seen in a while. I got a note from my aunt in Scotland in my card. I haven't seen her for ten years or so and it was nice to hear what she has been up to.

My sister, who is in her mid-70s, does the same thing for Christmas and on birthdays. We get a check for $10 and a card in the mail. Even the step-kids! She is more like my mother than my mother was, and the step-kids look on her as another grandmother. But those ten dollar checks always bring a smile to my face. BTW, Marni gives good hugs, so take her up on it.
Isn't it great that, often times, just when we think nothing can bring us out of a long-term funk - someone does/says/is exactly what we need?

Dilling - That cursed cart! KC is still laughing about that! I would have pissed my pants if someone would've given me $2. I would have. Seriously. It's happened before.

cindydianne - I had a difficult time reading my Grandma's letter. It was great, but hard to read. I loved it anyway.
coffeypot - I have no idea why my Grandma sends me $10. I am the only grandkid/gretgrandkid that she does it for. It always makes me smile...
Marni - Just the blahs...Nothing to worry about. I will call over the holidays.
Tod - Just the blues...Comes with the territory. My Grandmas letter did give me a warm fuzzy.
Captain Corky - KC and I had lunch at Harveys. Maybe I should've given the homeless guy $2 for 'borrowing' his cart....
