SO, long story short? Betty ignored me for more than SEVEN straight hours, first at the funeral home, and then at a family gathering later.
The night before, also bad. Horrible. Very bad. My brain snapped, BUT, I made it. Oh yeah. Neither one of my mothers could break the Biddie.
Aside from Betty's complete indifference to me and her grandchildren, it was a great day. I laughed my ass off, and got to hang with cousins, aunts and uncles that I rarely get to see. I have a special connection to my cousin Wendy, and she told me in no uncertain terms that Betty owns this disfunction, not me. There were hugs a-plenty, and many photos were taken. Expect to see some on facebook, unless Tanya and Kim take bribes.
It's too bad that my Aunt Kaddy had to die to bring us all together again. I hate that. I am hoping that maybe her death will bring Betty closer to HER family, and will make her realize that life is too short for this. Hoping, but not holding my breath.

It is sad that it took this to bring you all together. I would really like to think that somehow she knows.

This took a lot of courage for you and I will never know how much it hurt to be ignored by your mother. But your cousin is right. It's her problem. You've done what you can.

I'm proud of you.

And I'm sorry for your loss.

Take a deep breath. This has been a huge stress point and you've done well, better than anybody would cope in a situation like this.

Wise cousin, Wendy.

One of my favorite movies is "Soul Food." Families can either spin away from each other or come closer during these times.

You are much nicer than me. I would have walked up to Betty, hugged her, and said, "I look forward to attending yours next."

I'm glad you didn't let her get to you. It shows you really are beyond all that bullshit. Super cool that you got to reconnect with some of the family, even under such sad circumstances.

Hi Biddie, Thank you for answering my letter. Yes, I have a blog, neglected as it is. I am sorry you are going through this bad time. It would seem Betty has some major problems and no matter what, you are going to hurt. To spread that much sadness she must be a miserable person. She is a punishment to herself. My father is dead over a year and he continues to hurt me daily. Most of the time I just say "fuck him". The other times I cry and wish he had loved me for who I am and not who he thought I should be. I make very sure I treat my children nothing like he treated us.Hang on, time will pass and you will feel better. Keep in touch, deb

I'm glad your brain snapped back Biddie. Life is too short, but remember that lots of people do love you. ;)

Trying to play catch-up, Biddie.

So sorry about your aunt. I know you knew it was coming, but it's still hard when it does; harder still when family members make things difficult.

Glad no jail, too! That woulda sucked.

Hope you can have a good weekend...

It's sad but it's often the case that death brings people together... or not in Betty's case...

I am so sorry for your loss. I am glad you survived the service. I knew you could do it. It is a shame that sometimes it takes these things to bring a family together again. I certainly know how that feels. Hang in there. As always, my prayers are with you.
