Petula Clark - Downtown

After visiting Rick, the Palm Springs Savant, I was suddenly struck with the mood for some retro stuff. I wanted to hear some Petula Clark.
What better to put me in a good mood then Petula Clark?

What better to put ME in the mood? How about the wind is blowing, the sun came up, the sun went down, a leaf is falling….? It doesn’t take much. Petula is okay. How about Lulu or Cindy Lauper?

coffeypot - I love Cyndi Lauper, and it's funny that you mention Lulu, cause I almost posted her! The Temptations were another contender.
How was your birthday?

Wow, I feel so out of the loop...who is Rick the Palm Springs Savant? Should I start watching TV again or are you out and about in your wonderful neighbourhood????

Man, people wrote such great songs back then!!!

Plus there was no ProTools so you know that every note out of a singer's body was for real. There was no faking out. You either did or you didn't.

Good times man. Groovy video. Wish I could have watched the whole thing..!

Shits gone down hill since her day. Now the only reason I go downtown is to cop some crack.

Just kidding. ;)

Petula Clark, god I remember it well as a kid. I probably watched this original on TV. All I need is the Black and White Minstrels shuffling in around her.
Memories!
Nice one Biddie

Tod - I wish that I had it one my ipod. I still can't can't figure out how to do that downloading thing by myself. I need a kid to supervise. I suck.

Heidi - Rick is on my blogroll, but you have to scroll wayyy down, b/c blogger was being an ass hat and wouldn't let me put them all together.
I watched the colour version of this video, too, but decided to post the b/w. It seemed more..real. She rocks, doesn't she? You KNOW that the talent is all hers, not manufactured by someone else.

Captain Coky - I LIVE downtown, so I know what you mean about the crack. Still, I love it here, and I love Petula. You're right, shit HAS gone down hill since then.

Paddy - I think that this a little bit before my time, butI grew up listening to the oldies.
Glad that you liked it! It's one of my fav's :)

her Indoors - I seem to ALWAYS have this song stuck in my head. Still love it, though. Lulu next? You got it.

rain - LOL. I know, me too!

ok I was thinking Petula Clark ...who the heck is that...lol.

I watched the video and a 2nd one related to it and right away I thought oh yeah baby I remember that song...

I have always been awed how deeply music can affect your emotions or your soul...if only you let it..

4D - Is that the problem? LOL. I was wondering what inspired the wicked cool dance moves!

canadian flake - LOL. Who could forget Petula?!
