The weekend was mostly uneventful. Hubby and I took J to the mall to get her pants for KC's grad ceremony on the 12th. The whole bus smelled like beer, courtesy of Oktoberfest and tourism Canada. Thank you. I bought her a pair of size 0 dress pants, and even they were too big. Maybe she does need to gain more weight.
KK came home from school on Friday with a note.....You know what that usually means - nothing good. Not this time. KK is getting an academic award for having the highest English grades last year. This is the same kid that has always needed extra help because of her learning diabilities. How proud am I?
Hubby's hours at work have been cut back, and I am sweating about the growing pile of bills. I was supposed to go to the hydro office today to see the lady in charge of collections. I don't think that I'll make it. My anxiety is kicking in full blast and I feel ill. Not only that, but KC lost her keys and took mine. That would normally not be a problem for someone that never leaves the house. It is today.
Ruby lost her mind while I was in the tub today, barking and pacing. Turns out that the crack heads next door were in my drive way again. Not just parking, but actually WORKING on a van. In MY driveway. I think that I should just start charging them a fee, and maybe it'll help pay our bills! The perfect solution!

I really am trying not to stress about the bills. If only it were that easy....

Biddie - I know how proud you must be. Trevor got an academic award a while back - super cool. Congrats to her.

Bills suck. I am stressed over them too!

cindydianne - I am SO proud. This was completely unexpected. I knew that she had improved, but I had no idea that she was improved THAT much. Doesn't it feel great?

She is great!

Call the bill people. Call them and tell them you can't meet them in person...you don't have to tell them why.

Do the landowners have any control over your neighbours? And aren't the neighbours afraid of your hubby and your wicked garden hose????

The nerve of the crack heads. Ask your landlord if you can pay less per month if your neighbors are going to use your driveway (assuming he oversees that house too). If not, then target practice on their tires. Maybe they won't use the driveway anymore. Don't fret over bills...they will always be there. You just have to be creative when you have a little less than you are used to. Isn't that what we all do?

Congrats to KK.

dj andi - Different landlords. We live in a house, I have no idea who owns the place next door. I swear, I might try target practice.....

heidi - SIGH.....I will have to call the bill people...I just don't know how I'll explain to them WHY I can't come.
Since there are about 10 people living next door, and most of them are crack heads, they probably don't ever see Shawn. Wait until they do. I am so freaking tired of this.

You don't have to tell them why you can't meet with them in person, I don't think. It's none of their business. Simple fact, you cannot physically be there. Believe me, I know that sometimes even just picking up the damn phone is enough to send you into a full blown chest pain panic situation, sweats and shakes and all. I know it. But hey, that's a hell of a lot better than having a panic attack in the middle of the bank!

I think your Large Man should go over and smile charmingly at the neighbours and ask them to kindly move the scrap heap.

I'm sure he can be persuasive.

Heidi - I had such a hard time just picking up the phone today...It sucks. Remember me in high school? Where the eff did I go?
There are so many neighbours that I can't count them all. Seriously. You can tell one, but there will 3 others that don't get the message. I don't even know these people, most of them don't even smile at us. Why should I let them park in my driveway? And doing repairs? THAT is effed up!!!!!!!

jees, I thought I had massive invasion of privacy - you live in a place as wacked as I do. Congrats to your son, yay! Hang in there - my husband used to get cut on a regular basis - he always used his vacation days to make up the slack, but he got kinda tired because then he never got a vacation..........I don't know why but it is so hard to stay even, forget even getting ahead!

Bloody people. Why are they so messed up? Why can't they be considerate about other peoples property and privacy? It amazes me how morons can go through life without the slightest sense of decency towards fellow human beings.

Do what Heidi says, hose the swines! They could probably do with a bath. Hee hee!

katy said...

well done to KK
and do go for the hose on the nasty neighbours
bills bills bills hate them, over here we would be able to offer to pay so much off it a week, can you do that with the hydro bill?

How great for the academic acknowledgement!

Not great about the crackheads. I bet you THEY don't worry about their bills...f**kwads! Seriously talk to the landlord about this. Does he own the house next to you, too?

Wish I could be one of the people who tells you not to worry about your bills... I am a lot like you in that manner.

I'll think some good thoughts for you.

I'm in the same boat girl. Robbing Peter to pay Paul. Things are the tightest they've been in a long time. I try to just plow through and not let it get to me. If you don't have the money, you don't have the money.

Awesome about your daughter. That is really impressive. My 8 year old had a poem published in a book last year. When I got the notice about it I cried with pride. (I didn't mean to make that rhyme :)

Good news and bad news in this post - hopefully they'll even each other out and happier times will prevail.

Congrats to the young'n!! Bills? Never look 'til they're red n angry.

Wow, your luck is all good or all bad, isn't it?!? So sorry about all the bullshit...but I am proud of your kid for you, too!!!! Does your landlord know the other landlord? Could he get the name for you? You are legally able to get that info through City Hall, though it costs 15 dollars(at least here it does)...and then you and your neighbours can start writing or phoning...the landlord really may not know there are that many people in there, it may be a lease violation, he can act quickly on that...also, call by-laws enforcement whenever possible, if you notice anything worthy of them...by-laws can pressure the landlords, as well, with things like fines. Our neighbourhood does have two landlords who don't give a rat's ass(pardon), but most DO and will act... our neighbourhood has shut down more crackhouses with landlords than with the police...whew...I guess I needed to type, eh? I guess I better download my camera and blog...after I go refill the fridge at the grocery store.

4D- all of my bills are red and angry...

jay - thanx for stopping by..I just came from your place..loved the Salsa dancing story!

nonny - This is the worst that it's been for ages. I am ALWAYS worried, because we are always behind, but we are on the verge of losing important services now...phone, cable, internet...
great news about your daughter! A published writer! VERY impressive!

camie - Yay! You're back! The landlord doesn't own the place next door. I live in a house, one of 3 owned by the church, but not the one next door. I mean seriously, fixing your car in someone else's driveway? These people aren't even NICE to me!
I'll be thinking good thoughts for you, too.

her indoors - hydro is all worked out. With my current bill, I'm now at about $500 owing. I can take the next 5 weeks or so to pay, and I don't need to make another payment until the 23rd. The problem is rent (not paid yet), and all of the other bills. Hubby's hours have been soo drastically cut, it scares me. I do feel better about hydro, though.

tod - you are SO right! The swines next door really could use a bath. You should see some of 'em. I just can't get over the nerve of these people! I value my privacy like you wouldn't believe, and this is like hell for me. I just want to
be left alone, y'know?

diana - I know what you mean about the invasion of privacy! I don't want to look out my window and see that! I am trying to be a good neighbour, but how neighbourly do I have to be? These guys don't even say hello to me! My Hubby is a sub contractor, no vacation pay, no unemployment. It is scary. i try to stay positive - It COULD be worse, he is still getting some hours, just not enough to cover everything....
I just came from your place..Your post nearly brought me to tears.

Heidi the Hick said...

If you lose you phone and your internet, I'm going to...I'm going to...I'm going to...

I can't even think it.

ldbug said...

congratulations KK!! and congrats, Mom for helping her.

Try not to stress too much, I know how you feel, but it never helps to get sick over worry.

Hope everything works out and call the cops on those neighbors!!! Or you could try calling their landlord....

Biddie said...

Heidi - yeah, I know...I thought losing my phone was bad, but NO internet???! I can NOT even cotemplate it......

ldbug - I would call the landlord if I could figure out WHO the eff he is...My guess is that since his place has become a crack house, he doesn't care much...I would still like to have a word with him, though..I am trying not to stress too much about the bills. It won't change anything...All of these positive thoughts are a big help, that's for sure!!

Biddie said...

dilling - You're back! How was the trip? So strange, you weren't here before, and now you pop up in the middle of everything.
I am going to try to find the landlord, and it is time to phone by-law and everyone else that I can...enough is enough.
I am SOO proud of KK...Amazing.
